Buying guide for baby products
Choosing the best products for your baby is about choosing the best product and model for your specific needs. We have an in-depth buying guide in each of the product category review pages featured on this site.
Here are key considerations when buying these baby products:

- Baby Carriers:
Fit, comfort, and “capacity” are most important. Look for carriers that have a wide range of adjustment both for the adult and for the child, with broad, well-padded straps and back support. You will want a broad, secure seat for the child with the ability to hold the head in a comfortable and safe position. Look for capabilities to put the child in front (both forward facing and rear facing) and or on the parent’s back, like a backpack.

- Modular Travel Systems:
Combining the functionality of a car seat and a stroller, key considerations are safety in an accident, the ability to be both forward-facing and rear-facing in the car, ease attachment and removal both in the car and to the stroller frame, and sun protection. Look for bassinet/pram functionality as well.
Installtion location, dimension, access are the top three criteria. Do you want a walk-through?
Do you prefer one-hand operation? Also consider ease of installation. Do you need it to be multi-functional? For example, a barrier convertible to a play-yard.
You will want many activities which stimulate with sight, sound, and touch. Look for a theme you want your child to learn, like music, shapes, etc., and activities that stimulate creativity in your little one.

- Jogging Stroller:
Look both for features impacting the comfort of your child and for features that support pushing the stroller while jogging or walking. Seat comfort is a big factor as is a large sunshade and provision for storing things (diaper bags, shopping items, water bottles, etc.).
For the pusher, look for large wheels, ample room from the push-bar so that the stroller doesn’t interfere with your stride, easy rolling and a lockable front wheel for jogging. Safety features and styling are important.
Besides entertainment values to your infants, check for features to help your baby’s physical and metal development.
Check for age guideline, baby maximum height and weight requirements. In general, most jumpers are designed for 4 months to walking.
Are the seat pad removable and machine washable? Are there multiple positions for height settings?

- Crib:
Select cribs with solid construction, securely locking sides (if they drop), and adjustable mattress height for safety. An attached changing table can be a major plus, as is storage under the changing table and/or in a drawer under the crib. Look for a crib that converts from crib to toddler bed to full-size bed with styling and materials that match your décor.
Check for age guideline and maximum and minimum weight requirements. Most Baby rockers are designed for babies 0-6 months of age. Then consider the type best meets your needs. For example, do you want a baby rocker, a baby swing, a baby bouncer or the combination of 2-in-1. Do you want music, sound and a toy bar? Do you need it to be portable and compact?

- Baby Monitor:
You will want a baby monitor which provides a sharp picture, with sound, over a range sufficient to cover anyplace in your house or yard you may be. Useful features are alarms for unexpected or loud sounds. Consider one allows you to set the alert level you want.

- Bedding:
Baby bedding does more than keep your little one warm. Although warmth is an important consideration. You will want a warm and attractive comforter. Ideally, these will provide tactile stimulation for child and imaginative decoration to interest your little one. The blanket should be a wearable blanket, as they have proven safer than a traditional blanket. Bumpers are no longer recommended (for safety reasons), and having at least 2 sheets is a wise choice.
