If you are prone to headaches, then pregnancy could make them
worse or better. Some women report that their headaches get
worse with pregnancy and some report that they go away. Either
way, pregnancy is sure to bring on various aches and pains.
Your favorite pain reliever may not be a good choice for you
during this delicate time. Medication should always be discussed
with your doctor, but for the most part, doctors agree that
acetaminophen, or Tylenol, is safe to use during pregnancy.
In fact, Tylenol is usually the only pain reliever that doctors
will recommend to you while you are expecting.
Studies have shown Tylenol to be safe for pregnant women
and their unborn babies if taken properly. As long as you
follow the dosage instructions that come with the medication,
you can use Tylenol throughout your pregnancy and while nursing.
Severe headaches should be reported to a doctor, as they could
be associated with preclampsia, a very serious disease that
can occur during pregnancy and causes high blood pressure.
